"tank polygon" custom map

Out of frustration trying to kill IS-6's with a T-29, I downloaded this fairly popular custom map by the player "tank polygon." It lets you take any of your own tanks out against mostly stationary AI tanks, to test armor penetration, damage and such.

Has anyone else used this map? It's supposedly the most popular custom map available, but I can't find a decent discussion thread on it anywhere. There are a few YouTube videos like this one, but I'm not able to reproduce the effect where they can make a bunch of tanks spawn in the field from a particular nation. It figures, the IS-6 is the one tank on the custom map that, when you try to approach it from the front, you're blocked by a big mound of earth. So, I can't really get a reasonable angle on the thing to test penetration. I'm trying to get it to spawn in the field to no avail.

Anyone know how to get around this issue?

I'm just trying to get the non-player IS-6 to spawn anywhere but the place it starts. The guy in that video I linked is able to make tanks spawn out in the field but that won't work for me.
